A Candle Business Journey

Starting a small business is an exciting and challenging journey. As an entrepreneur, you face many obstacles and hurdles along the way. I am excited to share my experience with you as a candle business owner who is almost a year into my journey.

It has been five months since I started selling my handmade candles, and it has been a rollercoaster ride. From creating my brand and website to sourcing materials and crafting my products, it has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. However, I realize that documenting my journey is essential as time flies by. I need to track my progress and learn from my experiences to help me grow my business (and help you too)!

One of the most significant challenges I face is balancing online and in-person sales. While I started with an online store, I quickly realized the importance of having a physical presence. I attend local craft fairs and markets, which have helped me reach a new customer base and connect with my community. This mix of online and in-person business has helped me grow my business and gain valuable feedback from customers.

Through my small business experience, I have learned that there are no shortcuts to success. However, I can take steps toward growth by learning from my failures and successes. For example, I learned that creating a blog helps with SEO (search engine optimization). I can consistently post content to improve my website's search engine rankings and drive traffic to my online store.

Speaking of which, here’s your first helpful hint - start a blog! Not only does it help with SEO, but it also helps build a relationship with your audience, share your journey, and showcase your products.

My goal is to post a blog weekly, although I may need a little slack. As a small business owner, time is a precious commodity, and there are always new challenges to overcome. However, I believe that sharing my journey will help me connect with my audience, build my brand, and grow my business.

In conclusion, starting a small business is challenging, but it is also rewarding. By documenting your journey and learning from your experiences, you can grow your business and achieve success. If you're starting a candle business, remember to balance online and in-person sales, learn from your successes and failures, and start a blog to improve your website's SEO.
